On Sunday 27th March 2011 (Census Day), the usual resident population of the borough was 199,693. This accounted for 11.0% of the Northern Ireland population.

The estimated population of the borough at 30th June 2020 was 217,232. Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough is the second largest council in Northern Ireland in terms of population.
