55.3% of respondents to the Northern Ireland Life and Times Survey in the borough for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018 believe that relations between Protestants and Catholics are better now than they were five years ago.

Crime
Recorded crime in the borough decreased by 2.3% between 2017/18 and 2018/19 while recorded crime in Northern Ireland increased by 2.9% over the same period.
Rural Statistics
Results from the 2011 Census show that just over half the borough’s population (51%) lived in urban areas while just under half (49%) lived in rural areas.
