Purpose

The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to explain what personal information we collect from this website and how we ensure its best protection.

This Privacy Policy governs this website at www.armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk (the “Website”). Other sites to which the Website may be linked are not covered by this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy only covers information which is collected by Armagh Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council (the “Council”) from the Website. It does not cover information which the Council holds in pursuance of its statutory functions and duties under the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 2014.

Data Protection

The Council complies with the Data Protection Act 1998 (the “Act”).  For the purposes of the Act, the Council is the data controller and sole owner of the personal data collected on the website.

The Council is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who use our website.  If you provide personal information such as name and address details via forms on the website, you agree to us contacting you about the information which you request. Under no circumstances will your personal information be sold or used by another organisation.

The General Data Protection Regulation

The General Data Protection Regulation is coming soon, this legislation will replace current data privacy law, giving more rights to you as an individual and more obligations to organisations holding your personal data.

One of the rights is a right to be informed, which means we will be publishing a new privacy notice along with information about the increased rights you have in relation to the information we hold on you and the legal basis on which we are using it.

This privacy notice will be reviewed on a regular basis.

Security and performance

The Council uses a third party service, BigWetFish, to host and help maintain the security and performance of the website. To deliver this service it processes the IP addresses of visitors to the Council website.

When someone visits www.armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will be up front about this. We will make it clear when we collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it.
