We are working with our community planning partners to develop a realistic action plan for the delivery of our Tourism Economy Outcome.
- 149,500 overnight trips
- 3% of overnight trips in Northern Ireland
“Connected” takes an outcomes based approach which means starting off with what we would like to achieve A Tourism Economy and working back to determine what we need to do to get there.
Each of the outcomes in the plan has a story to tell. We have identified what the issues and causes are by using evidence. A statistical baseline was prepared.
This action plan has been prepared by the Creative Place Thematic Action Planning team under the leadership of Averil Morrow, Education Authority as the Chair and Brian Johnston Armagh City and Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council as the Council Lead. The Action Plan has a total of ten actions which are being taken forward under the Creative Place outcome. The strategic actions for each are shown below. This action plan has been prepared by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and Tourism Northern Ireland. Brian Johnston, Council is the interim chair for the team. The Action Plan has a total of 7 actions which are being taken forward under the tourism economy outcomes. The strategic actions for each are shown below. - Establish a baseline of tourism performance against which growth in the visitor economy can be measured
- Embed new tourism brand for the Borough with trade partners
- Increase overnight visitors to the Borough
- Embed signature events as key part of destination development
- Promote investment in new and existing tourism products
Each thematic action planning team will report to the Community Planning Strategic Partnership every six months. The Progress reports provide an update from the Chair and show the performance of the Tourism Economy actions.
The Chair of the Tourism Economy action planning team reports to the Partnership in June and December.
