Enterprise Week 2019 launches from 18 to 22 November. Spearheaded by the council and sponsored by System Operator for Northern Ireland (SONI), the week long programme will see a range of inspirational and informative events taking place across the Borough. With drop in clinics, workshops, information seminars and networking events offering support and guidance on a range of business matters such as financial advice, branding, driving innovation and promoting women in business, as well as hearing first hand experiences from industry respected guest speakers, there is scope for everyone to learn and develop during the week.

Thinking of starting a new business? Worried about keeping the appropriate paperwork?  What records and systems should you put in place to cut your accountants bills? What financial considerations do you need think about before taking on additional or new employees? Have you a VAT or TAX related question? Worried about HMRC’s new ‘digital’ requirements? Need help to start planning a business investment or expansion?

We are offering free appointments with experienced accountants.  This service will be provided by staff of five leading Accountancy Practises in the Borough in each of the Enterprise Centres.

BRAND YOUR BUSINESS

This branding workshop will touch on the basics of branding your business, touching on brand values, tone of voice and will involve a number of practical sessions for the delegates.

Delivered by Marketing Professional, Geoff Wilson, attendees will be able to glean a wealth of knowledge on the topic of branding at the very top level as Geoff runs his own marketing and communications consultancy business, with a focus primarily on sport.  Previously Head of Marketing and Communications at the (Irish FA) he was responsible for public relations, commercial programmes, brand development and communication to fans.   Geoff works with sporting organisations such as FIFA, UEFA, AFC, FIBA and other global sports organisations in a wide range of areas from strategic planning, marketing and communications, digital, fans engagement, public affairs and knowledge sharing/exchange programmes.  In addition, Geoff consults with a number of sports tech companies in the CRM, e-Sports, wearable and fans engagement space.

LUNCH WITH BARONESS MAY BLOOD MBE

Baroness May Blood MBE is a former member of the House of Lords. She sat on the Labour benches. Baroness Blood was born and raised in Belfast and worked in a linen mill from 1952-1990 where she soon became an active member of the trade union and a shop steward.

Baroness Blood will speak about her involvement with the Social Economy Sector and Argyle Business Centre.

The Entrepreneurship Masterclass introduces young people to specific growth sectors of the economy. It allows the exploration of entrepreneurship and assists in developing        creative business ideas to tackle real gaps in the market.

This event is coordinated and delivered by Young Enterprise NI. Schools from across the district will attend the event and present the ideas they have developed during the Masterclass.

The social enterprise (SE) sector is a growing and dynamic part of the local economy.  This event will highlight the work of some of the successful social enterprise start-ups from the borough and the support available to social enterprises.  It will also provide an opportunity for start-up SEs to pitch for a cash prize decided by the audience.

This event will showcase how businesses in the borough approach the issue of attracting and retaining qualified and committed staff and how they invest in staff through ongoing training and development programmes. We will endeavour to launch 10 new Businesses that have been started through the NI Start a Business Programme. On the day businesses will be able to avail of a range of professional advice and finalise business plans and projections with their allocated business advisor. Funders will also be available, to consult with those starting their business.
