Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is delighted to once again host the 7 Hills Blues Fest, as the much-loved festival returns to Armagh City this summer. Taking place from Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August, the festival promises a vibrant celebration of music, culture and community, with more than 40 free performances across 15 venues featuring an exciting line-up of local, national and international blues and roots artists.

Since its inception, 7 Hills has celebrated the rich musical heritage deeply rooted in Armagh and beyond. A key highlight of the festival is its growing reputation as a platform for discovering and celebrating fresh talent, as well as featuring more established performers.

This year’s line-up includes exciting artists such as Crow Black Chicken, who regularly appear on RTE and have touring and festival experience including BBC Introducing – Glastonbury, the Eric Bell Trio, fronted by the founding member of Thin Lizzy and Rob Strong and his band described as the “Godfather or Irish Soul/Blues.” Led Hedley makes a welcome return to the festival, along with Banshee Band and other local artists performing include Villiers and the Villains, Courtnay Giffin, The Dirt and Freedom 35s.

Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough, Councillor Mary O’Dowd, said:

“7 Hills Blues Fest is a fantastic festival not only showcases exceptional local, national and international musical talent, but also creates a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere throughout Armagh city for residents and visitors alike. With more than 40 free performances across a range of venues, alongside family-friendly activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Events such as 7 Hills play an important role in supporting our local economy, attracting thousands of visitors to the city and providing a welcome boost for local businesses, hospitality providers and retailers. We look forward to welcoming audiences from near and far to experience the unique culture, music and hospitality Armagh has to offer.”

The weekend is one the major annual events organised by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, and attracts thousands of visitors, local and from further afield. The festival will kick off with lunchtime performances on the bandstand on Friday, followed throughout the weekend by MD Rafferty Music School Live Lounge, free street acts, face painting and balloon modelling.  As another new addition to the lively weekend, on Saturday, there will be an artisan market located at the Shambles Market (1pm – 6pm).
