A new programme designed to improve digital skills, promote inclusion and drive innovation across the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough is set to empower communities by increasing digital awareness and supporting pathways into digital careers.
The Digital Future Programme is part of the Mini Digi Hub project, which is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
The programme is also linked to Bleary Digi Hub, with the aim of promoting the facility as a vibrant and inclusive digital hub.
Through an extensive series of events and workshops delivered by Sentinus, local schools, community groups and families will have improved access to ICT, with a strong focus on developing digital skills and building a strong digital ecosystem. There will also be the opportunity for young people to link with local businesses.
Lord Mayor Councillor Mary O’Dowd said, “The Digital Future Programme will play an important role in enhancing digital learning, working and living across our rural communities. Through collaboration with a range of project partners, we will share resources, expertise and best practice to ensure that people who live, work and learn across our borough are confident and skilled to succeed in an increasingly digital world.”
In November 2025, the East Border Region (EBR) local authority led cross-border group successfully secured just over €6 million investment to fund the Mini Digi Hub Project. Its central objective is to revitalise the East Border Region area by transforming underutilised public buildings into vibrant digital hubs, each with a unique thematic focus designed to meet the specific needs of their local communities and to leave a legacy for the programme area.
The Chairman of East Border Region, Councillor PJ O’Hanlon stated, “EBR are absolutely delighted to be lead partner on this innovative cross-border project. It will act as a catalyst to revitalise a number of rural towns and villages in the border region and provide vital services to our citizens. It is very exciting to see ABC Council moving forward with this innovative programme.”

Project partners include Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT), Monaghan County Council, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Meath County Council, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and Ards and North Down Borough Council.
