The Rags to Runway programme will see creativity and a passion for sustainable style stitched together to give pre-loved garments a second life as high-fashion statement pieces!

Launching at the Jethro Centre in Lurgan on Monday 8 June, the 6-week programme invites aspiring creatives to explore the potential of upcycling and sustainable fashion.

Welcoming the launch of the programme, Lord Mayor Alderman Stephen Moutray said, “Projects like this are an important reminder that sustainability is not just about recycling materials but also about encouraging a shift towards more conscious consumer habits to create positive change. I have no doubt this programme will be a great showcase of community spirit and collaboration to tackle textile waste and make a real difference across our borough.”

Over the course of the programme, participants will learn how to transform discarded garments and unused fabrics into innovative creations, proving that style and sustainability can go hand in hand. The programme will also highlight the environmental impact of fast fashion and encourage more sustainable lifestyle choices.

The programme will culminate with a showcase to celebrate the creations of a new wave of eco-conscious designers and fashion consumers.

The Rags to Runway programme is funded by The Executive Office through the District Councils Good Relations programme.
