Navan Centre & Fort is celebrating a blazing triumph as its annual Wickerman Gathering drew over 1,200 attendees to a sold-out event that lit up the weekend. Bigger than ever before, this year’s festival expanded to meet growing demand, offering an unforgettable evening of fire, folklore, and community celebration.
Held in the grounds of Navan, the Wickerman Gathering is a vibrant tribute to the ancient Festival of Lughnasa, marking the beginning of the harvest season. As the clan gathered to honour the Celtic Sun God, Lugh, anticipation built toward the awe-inspiring spectacle of a 30-foot Wickerman set ablaze in a dramatic fire ceremony — a breathtaking moment that united past and present in flame and spirit.
Visitors had the opportunity to meet living history performances that transported them straight to the Iron Age. The rhythmic beats and stirring melodies of live musical performances by local artists filled the air, while artisan craft makers showcased unique creations that celebrated heritage and creativity. Families enjoyed a dynamic mix of interactive, family-friendly activities, captivating visitors of all ages and building excitement ahead of the great fire ceremony.
