Job Matching and Assimilation
We are now ready to commence matching and assimilating posts into the remaining tiers of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough (ABC) Council (i.e. tiers five, six etc.). It is important to remember that ABC Council has a new structure and therefore some of the posts are different from those that existed in the legacy councils.
We will be taking a staged approach to the matching and assimilation process and will work through each department at a time completing its structure in full.
Management and unions will work hard to ensure that the matching and assimilation process proceeds as smoothly as possible, which will permit us to move quickly from one department to the next and a timetable is in place to allow us to manage this process. This being the case we envisage all employees will be in an ABC Council post by 31 March 2023.
What is the matching process?
This matching process is applied when there is a new post in the new organisation structure which was not in any of the legacy organisation’s structure.
What is assimilation?
Assimilation takes place when posts in the new structure are similar to posts that were in the legacy organisation’s structure with minor tweaks/changes. During the process you should be advised by your line manager which process applies to you once agreed.
What are the next steps?
Your Head of Department will share your department’s structure with you. They will also share the job descriptions for posts where assimilation will apply. Posts for matching will be listed on the intranet and a date provided of when staff will be notified if they are in the matching pool.
