
The streets of Banbridge are set to come alive once again with music and excitement as the annual busking competition which celebrates its 22nd anniversary this year returns on Saturday 20 June 2026. This much‑loved annual celebration of performance talent transformed the town centre into a vibrant, open‑air stage.
Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough, Councillor Mary O’Dowd, said:
“BuskFest is a fantastic celebration of music and community spirit. It’s a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to come together, enjoy live entertainment, and experience the unique atmosphere that fills Banbridge town. It also provides a valuable boost for our local businesses, as increased footfall brings more visitors into the town. I would encourage everyone to come along and be part of it.”
Families can enjoy a wide range of activities throughout the day, including:
- Puppet Show – Banyan Theatre, Three Billy Goats Gruff
Taking place at Banbridge Library, 10:30am and 12 noon. - Artisan Market
Located on Bridge Street (beside The Imperial Inn) and Scarva Street, 12 noon – 5:00pm, featuring local crafts, food and unique products. - Funfair at Solitude Park
Open from 12 noon – 9:00pm. - Busking Competition
Taking place across the town centre, 2:00pm – 5:00pm, with performances from a wide range of talented artists.
Family-friendly entertainment will also include face painting, balloon modelling, caricatures and walkabout acts.
The day concludes with a lively prize-giving ceremony and evening concert at the stage area near the Downshire Arms, beginning at 5:00pm. The line-up includes: 4am Club (last year’s winners), The Reillys and Anna’s Number.
New this year, two exciting additions take place on Friday 19 June – Behind The Beat and David Lyttle & Jazzlife. Behind The Beat (7–8pm, Amavi) features Ralph McLean, Andrea Begley and Caitlin Henning in conversation, sharing their insights, stories and advice for emerging musicians, while David Lyttle & Jazzlife (7.30–8.30pm, Roast & Roll, Banbridge Games Cafe) sees the MOBO-nominated jazz artist showcase outstanding young talent from his Jazz Juniors programme in a special hometown performance.
Registration for buskers is still open, apply at buskfest.com. All registered performers will be entered for a chance to win a share of the £4,500 prize pot.
