Lord Mayor welcomes Almac announcement of 1,000 local jobs

This morning, Almac announced the creation of 1,000 jobs over the next three years within Northern Ireland – and the Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Alderman Glenn Barr has welcomed the news.

“I am absolutely delighted to hear of this incredible recruitment drive by Almac that will see the pharmaceutical giant take on 1,800 new employees globally – with 1,000 of those based here in Northern Ireland.

“Almac is one of our biggest employers and renowned as a company who has consistently been at the forefront of the pharmaceutical development and manufacturing industry for over 50 years. This announcement has been welcomed with open arms and couldn’t have come at a better time as we collectively continue our economic recovery following the pandemic.”

Councillor Declan McAlinden, Chair of the Economic and Regeneration Committee added, “The news from Almac this morning is most welcome – not only within our own borough, but right across Northern Ireland as a whole. To know that the next three years will see a further 1,000 local jobs created by an organisation that has a global reputation for excellence is simply fantastic. We look forward to seeing the positive economic impact this will have in the future.”

These new jobs include operational, supervisory and managerial roles across its business and offers an exciting variety of opportunities for both graduates and experienced candidates alike. Positions are available immediately across 120 different job roles at sites in Craigavon, Belfast, Derry/Londonderry, Dundalk, Athlone, Charnwood and Edinburgh.
