Eighteen local community and voluntary groups have been awarded funding to help deliver work in support of the Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) Strategy.

The EVAWG Strategy aims to tackle violence, abuse, and harm experienced by women and girls which continues to be a serious issue that affects many in our society.

The funded groups will deliver a variety of activities, including workshops on healthy relationships, sessions that challenge harmful behaviours and attitudes, and guidance to help people access the right support services.

A recent event brought together all the funded groups, giving them the opportunity to connect, share ideas, and explore ways to collaborate. Each organisation also spoke about their planned work and how it will contribute to the goals of the EVAWG Strategy.

“Violence against women and girls has no place in our communities,” commented the Deputy Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Jessica Johnston.

“I’m proud that our Council is working alongside local and regional organisations to support real, positive change. These groups are already doing incredible work, and this funding will help them reach more people, raise awareness, and offer vital support where it’s needed most.”
