Elaine Cullen (ABC Council), Jonathan Birnie (Birnie Consultancy), Bob McDonald (Burren Balsamics), Susie Hamilton-Stubber (Burren Balsamics) encourage local agri-food businesses to sign up for the next Food Heartland Network meeting.

The third event in a so far very successful range of Food Heartland network meetings will be held on Monday 19th June at the Palace Demesne, Armagh – and this time, the focus will be on ‘Using Advanced Technology to Further Your Business’.

Organised by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, food and agriculture businesses based in the borough are being encouraged to register for the event, to use the opportunity to learn from experts in this field and network with other businesses.

At this event, those attending will learn about the latest trends in technology, simple data-gathering techniques and how they can be applied to any size of business. Participants will also hear from farmers and businesses who have already used technology to grow their businesses and can share their insights and advice.

The evening will begin with a business panel including Jonathan Hassin from Slurrykat, John Rafferty ‘The Robot Farmer’ and Susie Hamilton-Stubber from Burren Balsamics. The businesses will detail how advanced technology has furthered their businesses from implementing robotics on a farm to putting programmes in place to track deliveries.

The keynote speaker on the evening will be Philip Birnie who has over 15 years experience across a range of industries including food manufacture and processing. Although having a strong Financial background, Philip has been primarily involved with the operational and supply chain side of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, where the most notable cost saving and efficiencies are to be gained. Philip has been involved in helping businesses to implement and automate many of the core business processes.
