Expressions of Interest are now open for the provision of an operating licence to establish and manage a weekly market in the heart of Portadown Town Centre.
The market in Portadown has always played an important role in the daily life of the town centre. Markets are economically and socially an important asset to any town, helping to create a welcoming environment and establishing a sense of identity.
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council has two market sites available for weekly trading, with the option of daytime and/or evening markets. The council encourages special events on the market site, providing the potential to entice local producers to showcase their quality products, whilst simultaneously establishing a unique visitor attraction for the borough.
Portadown’s reputation as a great market town is in part due to it’s advantageous geographical location situated within the main transport corridor of NI, offering an exceptional transport network (gateway to Dublin & Belfast). Following significant investment there is a newly refurbished train station, considerable town centre developments, and multiple bus stops offering frequent services to neighbouring towns and beyond
Portadown boasts a wide range of retailers, businesses, and restaurants, all located on the main route through the town with pedestrian access and close proximity of public toilets and car parks.
