The countdown is on to this year’s Community Awards 2026 – an evening dedicated to recognising the outstanding individuals and groups who go above and beyond to make a positive difference across our borough!

The awards ceremony, taking place next week, will bring together community champions, volunteers and organisations for an evening of celebration, recognition and a touch of glitz and glamour!

Hosted by broadcaster Rebecca McKinney, the event will shine a spotlight on the people whose dedication, compassion and commitment help strengthen communities and improve lives every day.

This year, 33 individuals and organisations have been shortlisted across 11 award categories. From supporting older people and young people, to promoting health and wellbeing, sustainability, inclusion and community safety, the finalists demonstrate the very best of community life.

“We can’t wait to welcome our finalists and guests to what promises to be a fantastic evening,” commented the Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Mary O’Dowd.

“The Community Awards are a chance to recognise and thank the individuals and organisations who work tirelessly to support others, often behind the scenes. Every shortlisted nominee should be incredibly proud of their achievement, and we look forward to celebrating their success.”

Joy Overend from headline sponsor Pilgrim’s Europe added, “Strong communities are built by people who invest their time, energy and passion in developing others, particularly helping young people reach their potential. Pilgrim’s Europe is delighted to sponsor the Youth Champion Award category in the prestigious Community Awards, to celebrate the groups who do incredible work to support and encourage young people across the borough. Congratulations and good luck to all the nominees.”

The Community Awards are funded by The Executive Office District Councils Good Relations Programme.
