A bustling job fair held at the Market Place Theatre in Armagh on Tuesday 23 September drew strong interest from job seekers and local employers, underscoring Armagh City, Banbridge, and Craigavon Borough Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting employment and skills development across the borough.
Organised by the Council’s Labour Market Partnership (LMP) in collaboration with the local Jobs and Benefits Office, the event welcomed employers from a wide range of sectors, including food production, retail, security, and care. Exhibitors included Mackle Pet Foods, Autism Initiatives, Avondale Foods, The Kings Trust, G4S, and Mullan’s Spar, among many others.
The Labour Market Partnership (LMP) is funded by the Department for Communities. Labour Market Partnerships create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.
Attendees had the chance to meet employers face-to-face, explore a variety of live job opportunities, and access information on training and support schemes to boost their employability.
Lord Mayor, Alderman Stephen Moutray, who attended the event, said: “These job fairs play a vital role in bridging the gap between employers and job seekers. They give businesses the opportunity to connect directly with people who are keen to work, while supporting residents to take their next step into meaningful employment. The strong attendance in Armagh is a testament to the value these events bring to our community.”
Labour Market Partnership job fairs are hosted throughout the year in towns across the borough. The next job fair will take place in Millenium Court, Portadown on Wednesday 8 October 2025 from 11am to 2pm.
