Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Sorchá McGeown hosts a Civic Reception for All Ireland-Winning Armagh Stars Inline Hockey Club.

Earlier this month, Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Sorchá McGeown was delighted to host members of the All-Ireland winning ‘Armagh Stars Inline Hockey Club’ for a Civic Reception in the Palace Armagh.

The Club’s Under-15 squad ended the regular season in second place securing qualification to the season finale playoffs. In the semi-final playoff fixture, the young Stars beat the Cork Wolfpack 5-3, advancing to the finals versus the league champions Kilkenny Storm. The final ended 9-3 with the Stars taking the All-Ireland title and the Under-15 playoff champion trophy, which was lifted by captain Emma Storey alongside assistant captains Toby McKelvey and Sean Óg Brady.

Three of the team Toby McKelvey, Euan Francis-Naylor, and Isaac Hamilton also travelled with the Irish Under-17 Squad last month to the European Championships in Belgium.

The cross-community and co-ed sports Club, who train at the Rink outside Portadown, pride themselves on offering opportunities to all who wish to take part in Inline Hockey!

The Deputy Lord Mayor congratulated the team and coaches Chris Storey and Sinead Rafferty on their fantastic achievement and wished them and the Club every success for the future.
