THE cost of living, healthcare, housing and transport are just some of the challenges which will be highlighted at the forthcoming Older People’s Parliament in Stormont on Thursday 15 October.
Ahead of the Parliament session, residents from across the Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough, are being urged to take a few minutes to submit their views in a public survey on a range of issues faced by older members of our community.
At the last Older People’s Parliament held in November 2024 concerns were raised over health and social care; the rising cost of living; housing concerns, transport, accessibility and digital inclusion.
The Parliament is an opportunity for the impact of these issues on older people across Northern Ireland to be shared directly with decision-makers.
Lord Mayor of ABC Borough, Cllr Mary O’Dowd said it was important that people make their voices heard. “I would encourage everyone, particularly those of us who are over 50, to take part in this survey,” she said
“More and more people are living longer, so it is vital that all our public services in terms of health care, transport and infrastructure, all take account of our needs. By engaging with this survey, we can make positive changes to ensure we can all age well.”
To complete the survey – which closes on Friday 24 July, 2026 – please visit – https://consult.nia-yourassembly.org.uk/engagement/older-peoples-parliament/
