Earlier this month, the Lord Mayor Councillor Mary O’Dowd hosted a Civic Reception at the Palace, Armagh to welcome athletes and international guests ahead of the 2026 Small Countries Association Senior Men’s Indoor Volleyball Championship. Alderman Margaret Tinsley and Councillors John Óg O’Kane and Peter Haire were also in attendance.
Representatives from five nations – the Faroe Islands, Ireland, Liechtenstein, San Marino and Scotland – joined local teams to compete at South Lake Leisure Centre, the home of NI Volleyball, during the championship held from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 June.
Over three days of competition, Northern Ireland delivered a series of encouraging performances to finish fourth, while the Faroe Islands claimed the championship title following an impressive campaign.
Massive congratulations to all the athletes who took part – well done!
