A special conference looking at how people facing financial hardship and mental health challenges can be supported better, takes place next week and we are really looking forward to it.
Hosted by Community Advice ABC, ‘Honeycomb – A Hive of Integrated Support’ is a free, half-day event bringing together professionals from across the statutory, community and voluntary sectors. The focus is on building stronger, more joined-up support for those navigating crisis situations – from money worries and food insecurity to emotional and mental strain.
Chaired by broadcaster and journalist Sarah Travers, the event will feature moving frontline stories, practical case studies and insights from organisations including Women’s Aid, PSNI Predatory Lending Team, Dunlewey Addiction Services, Southern Health and Social Care Trust, Money Ready, Salvation Army Wraparound Care, and Community Advice ABC.
The event will have a live choir performance to start the day during registration, insightful talks on financial abuse, addiction, illegal lending, debt and emotional wellbeing, real-life case studies from joined-up service models working in foodbanks and social supermarkets, time to network, share ideas and connect with others working on the frontline
The conference will close with a keynote address by Professor Siobhán O’Neill, Northern Ireland’s Mental Health Champion, who will speak about the urgent need for more connected services and compassionate care in our communities.
The Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Alderman Stephen Moutray will officially open the event. He commented, “Honeycomb is a great example of how organisations across our borough are coming together to support those who need it most. Tackling issues like debt, poverty and mental health requires teamwork and compassion, and I’m proud to see that happening right here in our community.”
“Honeycomb reflects our continued commitment to raising awareness of local advice services and the power of partnership in tackling crisis situations,” said a spokesperson from Community Advice ABC.
“At a time when many families are facing debt, food insecurity and emotional strain, it is more important than ever to connect services and build collaborative solutions.”
