A new traffic management plan is being introduced for this year’s Halloween Fireworks celebration event which will be held at the South Lakes Leisure Centre in Craigavon on Thursday 29 October.

Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon (ABC) Borough Council say the aim of the temporary one-way system is to ensure the safety of everyone and also reduce the levels of congestion for local residents, visitors to the hugely popular fireworks display and passing motorists.

  • From 6.30pm to 9.30pm on Thursday 29 October, a one-way traffic system will operate on Lake View Road from Roundabout 4 towards the Civic Centre.
  • From 7.30pm to 9.30pm, the exit from Roundabout 4 onto Lake View Road will be closed to general traffic. Access through this closure will be maintained for Translink services only. This arrangement will allow vehicles leaving the Rushmere underground car park and Civic Centre car parks to join the one-way system and leave the area safely and efficiently following the fireworks display.

Residents will continue to have access to their homes throughout the event. Traffic marshals will be in place to assist residents accessing properties within the affected area. If residents need to leave their property during the traffic management period, they will follow the one-way traffic system in operation on Lake View Road.

Residents wishing to access properties in the area while the Roundabout 4 exit is closed, should approach via Highfield Road through Balteagh Roundabout.

A spokesperson for ABC Council said; “Every effort has been made to minimise disruption while ensuring the event can be delivered safely and successfully.

“We appreciate that these arrangements may cause some temporary inconvenience and we would like to thank the local residents and the wider public for their patience and cooperation while these temporary arrangements are in place.”
