Group organisers, tour planners and tourism partners gathered at Navan Centre & Fort recently for a dedicated open day showcasing one of Northern Ireland’s premier heritage attractions and the wealth of experiences available across Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough.

Hosted by the Tourism Team at Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, the event welcomed representatives from community groups, clubs, associations, active retirement groups, special interest groups and coach tour operators, providing inspiration and practical information for planning future outings.

The Deputy Lord Mayor, Alderman Lavelle McIlrath, welcomed attendees and encouraged organisers to consider Navan Centre & Fort when planning future group visits.

“Navan Centre & Fort is a fantastic attraction to have right here in our borough. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience the stories, heritage and traditions that have shaped this place for centuries. Whether your group is interested in history, culture, food, shopping or simply enjoying a great day out, Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon offers something for everyone. We are proud of the quality and variety of experiences available here, and I would encourage group organisers to come and discover Navan while exploring the many attractions and warm hospitality that can be found right across our borough.”

As one of the borough’s flagship tourism attractions, Navan Centre & Fort offers visitors a unique blend of history, myth and archaeology. Group visits can enjoy interactive exhibitions, engaging storytelling, guided tours and the opportunity to explore the landscape at the heart of Ireland’s ancient past, making it an ideal destination for coach tours, special interest groups and day-trip visitors.

Located just outside Armagh City, the attraction brings to life the stories of Emain Macha, the legendary seat of the Kings of Ulster, through immersive experiences that connect visitors with Ireland’s rich heritage, myths and traditions.

Attendees also learned about the wider tourism experiences available across the borough, from guided walking tours, museums and galleries to food and drink experiences, shopping, gardens, genealogy, arts and culture, and seasonal events.

Group tourism plays an important role in supporting the local economy while helping to sustain jobs and drive growth across the destination.
