Over 150 local jobseekers had the opportunity to explore new career prospects and connect directly with employers at the recent Banbridge Job Fair, organised by the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Labour Market Partnership (LMP) in collaboration with the local Jobs and Benefits Office.
Held at Banbridge Leisure Centre on Thursday 22 October, the event brought together employers from a wide range of sectors alongside employment support organisations, training providers and careers advisers, creating a valuable one-stop shop for those seeking employment, considering a career change or looking to develop their skills.
The LMP is funded by the Department for Communities. Labour Market Partnerships create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.
Attendees were able to meet 25 employers and support organisations face-to-face, learn about current vacancies, receive practical employment advice and discover training and development opportunities available across the borough and beyond.
Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Mary O’Dowd said:
“The Banbridge Job Fair provided an excellent opportunity for employers and jobseekers to come together under one roof. It was encouraging to see so many people attending to explore career opportunities, access support and make valuable connections.
Events such as these play an important role in helping people take positive steps towards employment while supporting local businesses to connect with potential employees. We would like to thank all of the employers, organisations and attendees who contributed to the success of the event.”
The event forms part of the LMP’s ongoing work to support local people into employment, address skills gaps and strengthen connections between employers and the local workforce.
