Lord Mayor ALderman Glenn Barr cuts the ribbon to officially open the brand new Edenvilla Play Park.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council recently officially opened Edenvilla Play Park after a massive £100,000 investment.

Situated on the same site as the previous park, you will find a fabulous range of brand new accessible equipment including a roundabout, sensory panels, basket swing, harness swing, parent and toddler swing and flat swings, a junior/senior unit, springer and spinning fun.

Local school children from both Bocombra and Edenderry Primary Schools were delighted to be invited along to enjoy some time away from the classroom and experience the wonderful new park!

Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Alderman Glenn Barr also enjoyed checking out the new equipment and officially opening the park!

“It is just brilliant to see the children so excited and enjoying the new play park in Edenvilla and to see how much this investment really means to the local community,” commented the Lord Mayor. “After everything our children have been through in the last year, getting outside and enjoying proper playtime is so important – and now they have a brand new play park to spend the summer in!”

The £100,000 investment is part of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s £4.75m Play Strategy 2018-2026. The eight-year strategy puts ABC Council at the forefront of health, recreation and leisure in Northern Ireland, actively championing play to help improve understanding of its critical importance to children and young people.

Farrans were the lead contractor for the works while sub-contractor Garden Escapes – a specialist playground equipment company – supplied and installed the new equipment.

Children have been enjoying the new equipment over the last few months but the official opening was only able to take place recently due to the pandemic.
