Navan Centre & Fort recently celebrated the success of its annual Samhain: The Beginning event.

Navan Centre & Fort recently celebrated the success of its annual Samhain: The Beginning event, which brings the ancient origins of Halloween to life at one of Ireland’s most significant archaeological and mythological sites.

Drawing visitors from across the borough and beyond, the event immersed audiences in the traditions, folklore and customs of Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter.

Visitors enjoyed a vibrant programme of cultural experiences, with Mummers, Druids and living history interpreters bringing ancient Samhain traditions to life alongside live music performances. Families and visitors of all ages took part in a range of interactive activities, including traditional crafts, willow weaving, face painting and creative workshops, while local artisan makers showcased traditional skills and crafts that continue to be inspired by rich cultural heritage.

Located just outside Armagh City, Navan Centre & Fort is one of Northern Ireland’s leading heritage attractions, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the stories, myths and archaeology of the ancient royal site of Emain Macha. Through interactive exhibitions, immersive experiences, guided tours and a year-round programme of events, the centre brings the region’s rich Celtic heritage to life for visitors of all ages.

Navan Centre is looking forward to more key moments in the Celtic calendar, including Imbolc in February, Beltane in May, the popular Wickerman Gathering for Lughnasa on 31 July, and both the Summer and Winter Solstices.
