Positive Ageing Month returns this October with a packed programme of events across Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (ABC) Borough, which will bring communities together and help forge new healthy habits and new connections.
Sports, exercise, arts, entertainment, health, cooking, crafts and the ever-popular series of tea dances, are all featured in this month-long celebration of life for the over-50s.
The classes and events, which will be held in venues in Armagh, Portadown, Lurgan, Banbridge, Dromore as well as in our local villages and rural centres, are a wonderful opportunity to make new connections, get active or discover new hobbies.
Lord Mayor of ABC Borough and a Council Age Friendly Champion, Cllr Mary O’Dowd encouraged residents to sign up for ‘something new’ this October.
“Positive Ageing Month is about renewal. For those of us who are aged over 50, now is the chance to try something new, learn a new hobby or skill and maybe meet some new friends,” said the Lord Mayor.
“We all know, that staying active and staying connected are two of the most important things which we need to do as we get older. The benefits and the joy of getting involved in a different activity, can make such a positive impact on our lives.
“If you are aged over 50, or maybe you have family and friends who are aged over 50, then let them know about this amazing programme of activities which we have lined up throughout October.”
