Community and Voluntary Sector representatives invited to help shape local priorities

10

People involved in the community, voluntary and social enterprise (CVSE) sector are being encouraged to come together and work with other community and voluntary sector leaders to play a greater role in shaping local decision-making by joining the ABC Community Planning Steering Group.

Expressions of Interest for the Steering Group opened on Friday 4 September 2026 and close at midnight on Monday 21 September 2026.

The Steering Group, made up of up to ten members, works on behalf of the Community and Voluntary Sector Panel (CVSP) and helps ensure the voice of the sector is represented within Community Planning.

The group plays an important role in supporting local priorities including mental health and wellbeing, tackling poverty and inequality, place and locality planning, environmental sustainability and strengthening the community and voluntary sector.

Members will have the opportunity to contribute to decision-making processes, promote community engagement, advocate for underrepresented groups and help strengthen partnerships between the community sector and statutory organisations.

To apply for the Steering Group, individuals must be members of the Community and Voluntary Sector Panel. Membership of the Panel remains open throughout the year, allowing organisations and individuals from across the sector to become involved at any time.

The Panel provides a platform for the community, voluntary and social enterprise sector to share good practice, influence local priorities, support collaboration and ensure the voices of local communities are heard.

Anyone interested in joining the Panel or applying for the Steering Group is encouraged to find out more and submit an Expression of Interest before the closing date.
