Our borough was filled with energy and flavour this past weekend as thousands of visitors enjoyed one of Northern Ireland’s most celebrated food festivals, the Armagh Food and Cider Weekend, held from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 September.
The celebration featured an exciting programme of events showcasing the region’s PGI-status Bramley Apples, award-winning food and drink producers, renowned hospitality sector, and thriving craft cider industry. From tasting experiences and orchard tours to demonstrations, workshops, and bustling markets, there was something to delight visitors of all ages.
Saturday’s programme proved particularly popular, with crowds enjoying a range of free events across the borough. Artisan Street Markets in Armagh and Banbridge were alive with local food producers, crafters, makers, and artisan businesses, offering visitors the opportunity to shop local, sample outstanding produce, and discover unique handmade gifts. Live music, family entertainment, and delicious food created a vibrant festival atmosphere throughout the day.
The celebrations continued into the evening with Cider in the City at Armagh’s Shambles Yard. The popular open-air event showcased the very best of local food, drink, and entertainment, with visitors enjoying a wide selection of craft ciders, beers, spirits, and artisan street food while soaking up live music and performances.
