Blue Peter Presenters Take on Iron Age Life at Navan Centre & Fort

Navan Centre & Fort was delighted to recently welcome presenters from BBC’s Blue Peter as they took on the challenge of stepping back in time to experience the site’s popular Meet the Warrior experience.

The visit formed part of a special Blue Peter episode filmed in Northern Ireland, which also saw the presenters visit the iconic Giant Sculptures in the Sperrins before arriving at Navan Centre & Fort. Joel Mawhinney, one of the presenters is originally from Northern Ireland, making the visit a special homecoming and a proud moment for the region.

During their time at Navan, the Blue Peter team immersed themselves in Iron Age life, meeting the site’s skilled costumed interpreters and discovering what it took to become a Celtic warrior. From handling replica artefacts to learning about warfare, daily life and ancient traditions, the presenters embraced the full clan experience.

Navan Centre & Fort’s Meet the Warrior experience offers families the chance to step into the world of Iron Age Ulster, meet fierce warriors up close, and learn about the skills, stories and traditions of the ancient Celtic clans in an interactive and engaging way. The experience is designed to bring history to life in an accessible and fun format for all ages.

Following the excitement of the Blue Peter visit, the Meet the Warrior experience is now running every weekend, giving visitors the opportunity to take on the challenge themselves.
