Residents across the borough aged 50+ will have the chance to build confidence and develop essential skills on digital devices with the free Digital Support programme, starting January 2026!
This beginner-friendly programme is aimed at helping older people make the most of mobile phones, laptops and tablets and topics covered will include getting familiar with digital terms, learning to use a digital device, emails, online shopping, online booking forms, navigating websites and staying safe online.
Although more older people are getting digitally connected, Age UK reports ‘25% of people aged 65 and over in the UK don’t use the internet’ meaning that older people who are without digital skills risk losing access to key services such as banking, shopping and health services, as well as communications platforms that keep people connected.
The programme will run for 5 weeks at the following venues:
- Brownlow Hub (starts 21 January 2026, 10am-12pm)
- Richhill Recreation Centre (starts 29 January 2026, 10am-12pm)
- Banbridge Leisure Centre (starts 23 February 2026, 10am-12pm).
Places are limited. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
