Industrial Action Update

The Joint Trade Unions (NIPSA, GMB and Unite the Unite), have agreed to suspend planned strike action from 0001 hrs on Thursday 22 September, while they ballot their members to vote on the local pay offer that was agreed by Council management and Elected Members on Tuesday 20 September.

Our main priority now is to resume services to residents and customers as quickly as possible, whilst also acknowledging the scale of the task ahead.  As the recovery process begins, we are continuing to ask for your patience and understanding in the weeks ahead, as we prioritise services to clear the backlog of waste that has accumulated over the last six weeks.

What will happen next?

Details of the resumption of services are listed below, with useful guides to help residents and our staff during this recovery period.

Normal calendar bin collections are now operational for residents.

While our crews are working hard to catch up on collections, we are advising residents that we are continuing to deal with high volumes of waste across the borough. Please bear with us, it may take a while to get back to full service and we appreciate your patience while we get collections back on track.

We have updated our guidance for residents:
