Sports Grant Aid Scheme available to local athletes, coaches and clubs

Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Sports Forum, in association with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, would like to remind athletes, coaches and sports clubs that the Sports Grant Aid Scheme for the 2019/20 period, which aims to provide financial support to help athletes, coaches and sports clubs from the Borough to attain their full potential, is open for applications.

The following of grants are available:

Individual Grants

Talented Athlete Grant
To assist with travel to training, and competition costs for individuals competing at Provincial level and above. Individuals may hold one successful grant per financial year for up to 50% of eligible costs up to a maximum of £400 and must apply after they have taken part in the training/event.

Leisure Access Card
Individuals may also be eligible for a Leisure Access Card which provides free access to facilities operated by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council to aid with training in their particular sport. The Leisure Access Card will be valid for one year from the date of issue, and any renewal will be subject to a re-application process.

Club Development Grants

Clubmark NI Accreditation Grant
To recognise clubs that have developed their Junior/Senior Club section and achieved Clubmark NI accreditation (as recognised by Sport NI). Maximum award £500.

Volunteer Development Grant
To assist clubs with the development of volunteers through the hosting of generic courses like First Aid, Child Protection or Specialist coaching to develop Coaches (not players) with a maximum of £500 per club per annum and up to 50% of eligible costs.

Representative Sporting Clubs
To recognise clubs who have teams either representing or have qualified to represent their County, Northern Ireland or Ireland at an All-Ireland final or higher. Up to 50% of costs up to a maximum of £500 for travel and accommodation. Applicants must apply after they have taken part in the event. County Squads and General League Competitions are ineligible.

Grant Aid for Coaches & Umpires/Referees

Clubs can apply for assistance with the cost for coaches, umpires/referees to undertake a relevant Governing Body Coaching/Umpiring/Refereeing Award up to a maximum of £1000 per club, per annum and up to 50% of eligible costs.

To avail of the grants all applicants must be based within the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough and be involved in an amateur capacity in their sport.

Clubs must also be must be affiliated to the Sport Northern Ireland, Sport Ireland or UK Sport recognised Governing Body, as well as affiliated to the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Sports Forum. Individuals must also be affiliated either individually or by a club who is affiliated to the Sports Forum, otherwise they will need to affiliate themselves as an individual. The cost for a club to affiliate is £20 and the cost for an individual is £10 for the 19/20 financial year.
