Scarva is alive with the sound of music


Spring is in the air and so is the sound of music thanks to the tremendous tones of St Marks Silver Band in Scarva village on Sunday 14 April from 3pm – 4pm as the popular concert band series gets underway for another season.

The concert season, which runs each Sunday from April until September, features the finest in local concert bands performing at the magnificent Victorian bandstand on beautiful Scarva Green, renowned for its superb floral displays.

All concerts are organised by the South West Down Bands Association and supported by Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council.  Bands performing throughout April and May are:

As well as appreciating the marvellous music on offer why not take in the natural beauty of the gardens and enjoy a leisurely stroll or cycle along the Newry Canal Towpath. Experience the abundance of plant and wildlife, which make it a haven for bird lovers, including the resident swans. Nearby Scarva Park with its children’s play area is always a big hit with families.
