Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is urging residents and business owners to get directly involved in shaping the borough’s vision and direction for the future, following the recent launch of the Local Development Plan Preferred Options Paper.

As part of the Council’s ambitious plan to grow the economy, create greater investment, jobs and an improved quality of life for everyone, you are invited to attend any one of the 18 public consultation events to consider some key questions around the suggested proposals and to feedback your views on future priorities to 2030.

From now until 30 May 2018, the council will be gathering the community’s views, providing everyone with the opportunity to make their make their voice heard.

The public consultation – one of the largest ever undertaken by the council – will help to shape a new Local Development Plan for the area, creating a coherent vision of how the entire borough should develop and what it will look like over the next ten to 15 years.

Lord Mayor, Alderman Gareth Wilson, said,

“A new Local Development Plan for the entire Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon area will set out the vision, objectives and key planning issues which will ultimately shape the future of the borough. It will support our ambitions for improving economic prosperity and enhancing quality of life, opportunity and wellbeing.”

“Everyone’s views are vital. This is fantastic opportunity to get involved in a future we will build together and we encourage residents and businesses to have their say early and often as we launch this new and extremely important consultation phase.”

Chair of the Planning & Regulatory Committee, Alderman Freda Donnelly, said,

“The borough has unrivalled strengths in a superb location and we want everyone to be proud of where they live and work. This public consultation will help to shape the area for a generation so it’s critical that we collect everyone’s feedback. We need to be clear about the future direction and to ensure we deliver on our ambitions.

“The POP sets out the key issues of strategic significance that affects our borough and the preferred options agreed to address them. We want to encourage, promote and stimulate debate on these issues and to ensure we get the maximum feedback from as wide range of public, community and key stakeholders as possible.

“This vital information will help to inform us as we plan our future and agree a new Local Development Plan which will meet everyone’s needs.”

Those interested in taking part will have the chance to provide their feedback on a series of options presented for the future within a Preferred Options Paper (POP) which will outline, in principal, an overarching framework to support economic and social needs.
