Christmas festivities kicked off in style last Friday night at the ever-popular Christmas lights switch on in Lurgan – and over 4,000 people came out to enjoy the Christmas cheer!

Crowds were entertained by school choirs, local bands, drama groups, singing princesses, face painters, balloon modellers, fire performers and Christmas characters while the stunningly festive Twilight Market was a huge hit!

The event was compered by the brilliant Ryan Tracey – semi-finalist in Britain’s Got Talent 2017 – and there were shrieks of delight when Santa Claus and Mrs Claus arrived in a beautiful horse drawn carriage to switch the lights on!

Lord Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Councillor Mealla Campbell said, “The switch on was a fantastic success and it was wonderful to see so many people all wrapped up in their hats and scarves and enjoying the night. The atmosphere was so festive and fun and it was the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of the festive season in Lurgan.”
