Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, together with Farrans Construction, have marked a significant milestone in the build of the new £35million South Lake Leisure Centre in Craigavon, with brick work beginning to enclose the entire building ready for the mechanical and electrical installations along with internal fit-out of the facilities.
Once complete, the innovative new leisure centre will be home to a new 50-metre gala swimming pool, an eight-court sports hall, studio spaces, squash courts, an indoor children’s soft play area and a world class 1,000m2 gym. In addition, it will house an extensive outdoor water-sports provision, traditional best-in-class fitness facilities and fluid open spaces including cafés and studios, which have been designed to meet community and visitor needs.
Recently laying the first bricks on ABC Council’s exciting new development are South Lake Leisure Centre Board Members Alderman Kenneth Twyble (Chair of the Board), Councillor Fergal Lennon, Councillor Mark Baxter, Councillor Margaret Tinsley and Councillor Declan McAlinden.
