Spine-tingling events from family movie nights to fun-filled fireworks

Things are about to get spooky with a frighteningly good line-up of ghoulish games and eerie events. From spooktacular fireworks displays to Halloween movies nights, there is something for everyone as the darkness falls this Halloween.

Wrap up warm, sit back and relax as you enjoy a movie marathon on Saturday 26th October, when Halloween favourites, Hocus Pocus and Beetle Juice arrive at the Shambles Yard, from 3.30pm. Don’t forget to pop over to Macari’s at 5 Lower English Street, Armagh to purchase your ‘Movie Goodie Bag’ before you go.

Witchcraft and ghostly fun takes over Navan Centre & Fort as it hosts the ultimate Halloween treat for little ones who aren’t afraid of some spooky stories and ghostly surprises. Find out for yourself with interactive performances, storytelling and themed crafts, from 26th October to 1st November.

Get into the real spirit of Halloween with Sammy and his scarecrow friends in The Argory Pumpkin Patch from 26th October and enjoy pumpkin picking and carving your very own petrifying masterpiece. Follow the clues around the estate to find the Beastly Bugs and Creepy Critters – but watch out for the Mad Scientist at the bottom of the garden!

It’s all happening on The Mall on Saturday 26th October with fun for all the family at ‘Play in the community fun day’ from 12pm – 4pm, where kids of all ages will enjoy an afternoon of free interactive activities, including face painting, clay and Lego workshops, den-building, drama, storytelling and much, much more.

Have a hair-raising experience with chills and thrills at Portadown People’s Park’s Family Fun Day on Tuesday 29 October 1pm-5pm! With fireworks displays across the borough and a variety of events for everyone to enjoy:

Armagh 
On Halloween night Thursday 31st October enjoy the Spooktacular Fireworks display at the Palace Grounds, Armagh.  Gates open at 6.30pm with pedestrian access only except for blue badge holders (limited spaces*). Enjoy live entertainment and face-painting ahead of the firework display finale at 7.45pm.

*Please note: There are limited onsite parking spaces for blue badge holders only, which will be given on a first come first served basis.  Vehicles should arrive before 6.15pm and will not be permitted to leave until pedestrians have safely exited the grounds.

Banbridge 
Gather up your little monsters, dust off your broomsticks and join in the spine-tingling activities that await during The Boulevard’s week-long programme, including the return of The Boulevard’s popular Halloween Spooktacula on Friday 25 October*. Hosted by Cool FM’s very own Pete Snodden, there’s fun to be had for the whole family including a spellbinding fireworks display lighting up the skies.  Thrilling fairground rides and street entertainment galore, including your favourite Harry Potter characters, a ‘Day of the Dead’ unicyclist and stilt-walking spectres and zombies, fancy dress competition – for kids and big kids alike, show-stopping samba band performances and Halloween balloons and sweet treats.  *NB. The main road into The Boulevard will be closed from 8.30 – 9pm. Translink are running an additional service from The Boulevard into Banbridge Town Centre at 9.20pm.

Craigavon
It’s a monster mash of ghostly goings-on and fantastically frightening fun at our Halloween Extravaganza on Thursday 31 October.  The spooky spectacular gets underway at Rushmere Shoping Centre with a creepy collection of colourful characters, face painters, temporary tattooists, dancing and music from 3pm.  To set the scene for the main event, a spooky parade will leave Rushmere at 7.30 pm and set a course to Craigavon Lakes for the fabulous firework display which will light up the night sky at 8pm.

Armagh Planetarium is wonderfully transformed into a ‘Scaretarium’ this Halloween with a busy calendar of events planned to keep the kids entertained over the mid-term. Join Scientific Sue for a special Halloween themed “Potions and Explosions” live science show on 30th and 31st October and prepare yourself for lots of explosions, mess and fun for all the family.

Think space isn’t spooky? Think again! Armagh Planetarium is showcasing the darkest corners of the solar system with its haunting Halloween Dome Show. Prepare for monsters, zombies and ghouls during their 30-minute spectacular, from the 28th October to 2nd November.

If you fancy an adult Halloween night out with a difference, there’s no shortage of spine-tingling events. For one night only, expect the unexpected at Armagh County Museum on 1st November for the ultimate night at the museum, with Art after Dark. Enjoy an evening of painting and drawing, taking inspiration from Victorian taxidermy and mysterious carvings. A pop-up bar will ensure your creative juices are kept flowing.

Head to Armagh Planetarium on 1st November for some cosmic craic at another ‘Adult-only Take Over’, as Scientific Sue unveils ‘out of this world’ show, expect signature experiments and playful science demonstrations, as Sue’s wacky combination of science and drama makes this show an unmissable event.
