A business event celebrating Portadown’s success at scooping the title of Champion High Street of Northern Ireland at the Great British High Street Awards 2018, was held in Portadown Town Hall last week.
The event was an important opportunity for Council to recognise the ongoing work being implemented to revive, adapt and diversify the town centre and to thank the Portadown businesses for championing the area through their unique and welcoming offerings, customer service and business acumen.
Key speakers at the event included Jonny Ross, Regional Director of Ground Coffee, who spoke about Portadown from the perspective of a new business in the town and why Ground Coffee chose to invest in the restored Pump House. Oonagh Murtagh, Head of South Business Centre, Danske Bank, who discussed the challenges facing town centre businesses from the perspective of banks, plus Chamber of Commerce President, Adrian Farrell who spoke about the positive outlook there is for Portadown town centre and the importance of continued collaboration between local businesses, Council and the Department for Communities in order to build on the qualities which earned the town this prestigious award.
