Paintings Pop Up as Art Takes Over
Deputy Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough, Councillor Paul Greenfield recently brushed up on his artistic skills when he officially opened ‘Art Takes Over’, a novel new pop-up art exhibition located on Newry Street, Banbridge.
Art Takes Over has transformed what was previously an empty shop unit into a vibrant and exciting exhibition space displaying a kaleidoscopic canvas of contemporary and traditional art by local artists living within the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area.
All artworks on display are original pieces, encompassing a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolour, pencil, charcoal, mixed media, as well a collection of sculptural pieces.
Speaking at the launch the Deputy Lord Mayor said: “Art Takes Over is an excellent opportunity for artists from across the borough to showcase their creative talents in the heart of bustling Banbridge. So if you are an arts aficionado, serial shopper or curious passer-by why not pop in to this pop-up exhibition and enjoy the wonderful talent of our amazing arts community.”
The Art Takes Over exhibition is part of an ongoing programme facilitated by the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council to help promote and support local artists who live within the borough and at the same time help revitalise Banbridge town centre by making use of vacant shop units. In addition artists have the opportunity to meet and network with other artists living within the borough, with a view to establishing a strong arts culture in the area.
