Tourism development can have a key impact on the Borough’s economic prosperity. By making the best use of existing resources and implementing the Tourism Development Strategy 2009 – 2012, we aim to

  • raise the awareness of the tourism product
  • improve the overall image of the borough as a tourist destination
  • encourage networking and sharing best practice
  • address product gaps
  • improve visitor orientation and the provision of visitor information within the borough,

We also provide a signposting service for the following:

-   Events and Festivals Fund (incorporating the Department for Culture Arts & Leisure Community Festivals Fund);

-   Northern Ireland Tourist Board Signing Policy (Brown signs);

-   Accommodation start-up guidance;

-   Provision of tourism statistics for the Borough;

Irish and Ulster Scots Voicemail Service

The Council now provides an Irish and Ulster Scots voicemail service for any member of the public who wishes to ring using these languages. Simply ring the Council and ask to be put through to the service.  You will then hear a voicemail message in that language and be asked to leave your message.  We will then have your message translated and a response sent.
